We stand in solidarity with our African colleagues, students, alumni, and all those fighting racial injustice and inequality in Germany and across the world. As researchers in African Studies, we are aware of African Studies‘ entaglement with the history of colonialism. As VAD and as individuals, we regularly work with African colleagues and engage in activities to foreground African voices. We commit to engaging meaningfully with the structural inequalities and racism within African Studies and to continuing to counteract them.
