OJS Hosting Service for the African Studies community based in Germany

You have had a look at the Checklist for starting an academic journal and decided that you’re up for the challenge? The 14 reasons for working with the Public Knowledge Project’s Open Journal Systems (OJS) have convinced you and you’re ready to start your online journal?

We’re happy to help you! The Specialised Information Service for African Studies offers an OJS Hosting Service to the African Studies community based in Germany. 

We offer:

  • Technical set-up, maintenance and regular updates on a permanently available server
  • Advice and practical support for the conceptual design and creation of the journal(s) regarding:
    • website layout (selection and arrangement of contents)
    • editorial workflows
    • web design
  • Indexing of the journal (through an interface with the Directory of Open Access Journals)
  • Providing a journal DOI namespace and procedures for automatically registering new articles with DOI names
  • Advice and practical support for the inclusion of journal contents in library catalogues, in the Bielefeld Academic Search Engine (BASE) etc. to increase the journal’s visibility
  • It’s free of charge: the hosting service is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and operated by the Frankfurt University Library
  • Continued journal hosting is guaranteed even if project support expires
